Jourdan & Cristiano | Mitton Hall Wedding

Bride and groom kissing with windy veil at Mitton Hall hotel

When we checked the forecast for Jourdan and Cristiano’s wedding at Mitton Hall, it looked promising. A little cloud, some sunshine, and a small chance of rain around 7pm.

What we actually got was far better.

The clouds drifted away, the sun appeared, and by the afternoon it had turned into one of those glorious Lancashire wedding days that reminds you why Mitton Hall is such a popular venue.

Starting the Day at Mitton Hall

One of the first things we did on arrival was send the drone into the air to capture the venue looking its best. The Union flag was flying proudly above the bridal prep room and the sunshine was already beginning to break through.

After saying hello to everyone, we borrowed the dress for a few minutes and headed somewhere slightly different.

Rather than filming it in the bridal suite like most people do, we took it to the doorway of the ceremony room. The elegant dress in the doorway created a completely different look and gave us something a little more unique.

Back upstairs, the bridal party were in fantastic spirits and it was immediately obvious that this was going to be a brilliant day.

Preparations & Family Moments

Cristiano’s Italian family had travelled over especially for the wedding and there was already a wonderful atmosphere downstairs in the groom prep area.

As cufflinks were fastened and final preparations made, Cristiano’s dad made sure everybody had a glass of champagne in hand.

As tempting as it was, I politely declined.

Champagne before lunchtime and operating drones generally isn’t a combination I’d recommend.

Meanwhile, Jourdan and her bridal party were getting ready upstairs.

One of my favourite moments from the morning was a beautiful veil shot we captured in slow motion. As it floated gently down onto Jourdan, we all knew instantly it was too good not to include in the film.

The veil would become something of a star throughout the day, particularly later when the breeze picked up and gave us some fantastic movement during the couple shoot.

There was also a very emotional first look with Jourdan’s dad.

Those moments are always special and we always try to keep the room as quiet and uncluttered as possible. The fewer people present, the more genuine the moment feels. Jourdan did her best to hold back the tears, although not entirely successfully.

A Ceremony Full of Emotion

Cristiano looked equally impressive in his white tuxedo as guests began to arrive.

Before the ceremony, we discreetly hid a microphone inside his shirt using stage tape. Along with a separate microphone on the registrar, it allows us to capture crystal clear vows while keeping everything invisible in the photographs.

As always, we filmed the ceremony using three cameras to give us plenty of variety when editing the final film.

One of the most challenging shots at Mitton Hall is the bridal entrance.

The main doors open to reveal the bride, creating a dramatic entrance, but the difference between the lighting in the hallway and the ceremony room can make it tricky to expose correctly.

Thankfully, after filming there many times, we’ve learned exactly how to capture it.

And Jourdan’s entrance was worth the effort.

After a beautiful ceremony and the official becoming of Mr & Mrs Tuccio, guests spilled outside into the sunshine.

Confetti, Canapés & Italian Celebrations

We always prefer to use the main entrance for the confetti walk at Mitton Hall rather than the ceremony room exit.

The tree lined pathway creates a much more picturesque setting and allows Sarah to capture one of her favourite shots from inside the doorway looking out towards the couple.

While Neil White gathered everyone together for formal photographs, I prepared the drone for a large group shot.

The result was brilliant.

As the drone pulled away, Cristiano’s Italian family delivered exactly the kind of celebration you’d hope for, waving, cheering and creating a fantastic moment for the camera.

Drinks flowed, canapés disappeared quickly, and guests enjoyed the sunshine while we headed off with the couple for some relaxed footage.

Making the Most of the Gardens

The new walled garden area at Mitton Hall is quickly becoming one of my favourite places to film.

The conditions were perfect and the breeze gave us another opportunity to make the most of Jourdan’s veil, creating one of my favourite shots from the day.

We then took a gentle stroll around the rear gardens, keeping everything very natural and relaxed.

No complicated posing.

No awkward instructions.

Just walking, chatting, laughing and enjoying a few moments away from the guests.

At one point I decided the best angle involved jumping over the stream and climbing onto a rather precarious fence to capture the couple walking with the hotel in the background.

For a brief moment I thought I might be ending up in the water.

Thankfully I stayed dry, although that’s exactly why I always keep a spare set of clothes in the car.

Meanwhile Sarah had once again disappeared.

Whenever we’re filming weddings there’s a game I regularly play called “Spot the Wife.”

Usually I lose.

Armed with a long lens, she somehow manages to vanish completely before reappearing later with incredible footage of guests laughing, chatting and enjoying themselves.

It’s a bit like working alongside an SAS sniper, only with a camera.

Speeches, Chandeliers & Dancing

The speeches were excellent.

Jourdan’s dad, Kyle, the best man, Cristiano, and Jourdan herself all delivered heartfelt and entertaining speeches. We always enjoy it when the bride decides to have her moment too.

For speeches we use a three camera setup and I also attach a recorder directly to the microphone being used, ensuring every word is captured perfectly.

While the room was transformed for the evening celebrations and Exceed Events prepared for the party, Neil took the couple into the older part of the hotel to make the most of the stunning chandelier.

Because the area is naturally quite dark, we used a couple of small LED lights to add some shape and contrast to the scene.

I filmed over Neil’s shoulder so that we could both capture what we needed without keeping the couple away from their guests for too long.

It’s something we’re always conscious of.

Our philosophy has always been simple:

It’s a wedding, not a photoshoot.

The evening ended with the cake cut, first dance and a packed dance floor as guests celebrated late into the night.

As we were leaving, Dough Boy was setting up outside ready to serve pizzas and keep everyone fuelled for the rest of the evening. Very Italian!

A perfect ending to a fantastic day.

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Tuccio, and a huge thank you to the incredible award winning team at Mitton Hall. Winners of the 2026 Great Northern Wedding Awards for Best Countryside Wedding Venue, and thoroughly deserving of the title.
