Merrydale Manor offers a fantastic combination of modern design, beautiful grounds and thoughtful layout, creating plenty of opportunities for relaxed and cinematic footage throughout the day.
One of our favourite moments to capture here is the journey to the main house on the venue’s golf carts. A top-down drone shot as the cart crosses the lake looks incredible and creates a unique establishing moment that really shows off the setting. Later in the day, the pier that stretches into the middle of the lake provides another great opportunity for dramatic aerial footage and wide scenic shots.
The gardens at the front of the venue are perfect for couple portraits, especially later in the day when the light softens. At sunset, this area creates a beautiful, warm backdrop that works perfectly for relaxed evening footage.
The bridal preparation area is spacious and well lit, giving plenty of room for natural preparation moments. For a first look or reveal, we would usually avoid the staircase, as the lighting there can cause banding in slow-motion footage. A better option is the lounge area, where the double doors can be opened to create a clean, bright and more cinematic reveal.
The ceremony space benefits from excellent natural light and plenty of room to film discreetly from the sides, keeping cameras out of the way while still capturing multiple angles. There is also ample space for live music, whether that’s a string quartet or the venue’s mini grand piano, which always adds beautifully to the atmosphere on film.
After the ceremony, a slow walk back out of the room creates a lovely opportunity for a natural confetti moment, allowing reactions and movement to unfold without feeling rushed.
If the weather is kind, the gardens really come into their own. The grounds are exceptionally well maintained and tend to stay busy with guests well into the evening, creating a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of natural moments to capture as the day continues.
